Dr. Esra Salihoglu Yener

Our practice is proud to have Dr. Esra Salihoglu Yener as a valued member of our dental team. Dr. Esra Salihoglu Yener earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Marmara in Istanbul, Turkiye, in 2004. She then worked as a Research Fellow and Resident in the Department of Prosthodontics at the University of Yeditepe, while also practicing as a part-time general dentist in Istanbul. In 2009, she earned her PhD with her thesis on zirconia materials at the University of Yeditepe.

From 2009 to 2013, Dr. Yener worked as a prosthodontist in private practice in Istanbul. Seeking to expand her expertise, she was accepted into the Advanced Standing Program for International Dentists (ASPID) at the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of the University of Southern California (USC), where she graduated in May 2016. During her time at USC, she was awarded a special certificate from the Special Care Dentistry Association for her exceptional care of special needs patients.

Dr. Yener’s journey continued at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine as a full-time faculty member upon her graduation from USC. At Harvard, she served as a Senior Tutor and Instructor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry and Biomaterials Sciences. For three years, Dr. Yener taught comprehensive treatment planning, fixed and removable prosthodontics, implant dentistry, and operative dentistry. She also led the Interprofessional Education (IPE) Series, helping students understand the vital connection between oral and systemic health. Dr. Yener further honed her skills through a Fellowship in Medical Education at Harvard Medical School from 2018 to 2019.

Dr. Yener practiced at the esteemed Harvard Dental Center Faculty Group Practice for three years, where she provided prosthetic, implant, esthetic, and general dentistry procedures using the latest dental technologies.

Dr. Yener spent three wonderful years in the heartland of Virginia due to her husband’s position at the University of Virginia, creating unforgettable memories amidst the state’s beautiful landscapes and charming communities while she was practicing at private practice. Afterwards, she moved to the Bay Area and joined Dr. Hallisy under the name of Anchor Dental, which also represents San Francisco’s rich maritime history.

As a member of the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, the San Francisco Dental Society, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the American Academy of Clear Aligners, the Academy of Biomimetic Dentistry, and the USC Alumni Association, Dr. Yener remains deeply engaged with the dental community.

Outside of her professional life, Dr. Yener enjoys spending time outdoors, swimming, and reading. She also has a passion for calligraphy and collects fountain pens. Dr. Yener lives in the Bay Area with her husband, daughter, and son.

Dr. Julia Hallisy, DDS

Dr. Hallisy is committed to and passionate about the subjects of dentistry, oral health, patient safety, and health care quality. Her personal and professional goals include working diligently to help patients maintain their dental health and to give all patients a voice in health care solutions.

Dr. Julia Hallisy is a native San Franciscan and majored in biological science at the University of San Francisco.  In 1988, Dr. Hallisy received her Doctorate in Dental Surgery from the University of California at San Francisco School of Dentistry.

Dr. Hallisy has been in private practice as a general dentist in San Francisco for 30 years and enjoys seeing both children and adults.

Dr. Hallisy is licensed by the Dental Board of California and is a member of the Organization for Safety, Asepsis and Prevention, the San Francisco Dental Society, the California Dental Association, the American Dental Association, and the UCSF Dental Alumni Association.

Dr. Hallisy has been researching the topic of patient safety since 1998 and has worked with the California Nurses Association on HMO reform and with Senator Barbara Boxer to promote the passage of legislation for a national Patients’ Bill of Rights. In 2006, Dr. Hallisy was a recipient of a scholarship from the National Patient Safety Foundation to attend their annual national congress as a consumer advocate. Dr. Hallisy has worked with AARP on “empowered patient” training and has lobbied for healthcare safety in Washington, DC with the Consumers Union Safe Patient Project. Dr. Hallisy has also worked with The National Quality Forum, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), and the federal Partnership for Patients initiative.

In 2009, Dr. Hallisy formed a non-profit organization, The Empowered Patient Coalition website, dedicated to providing educational and advocacy resources for the public. Access the coalition’s patient safety and engagement resources at www.EngagedPatients.org.

Dr. Hallisy lives in San Francisco with her husband, John Hallisy, and has two sons, Daniel and Kevin.
